Ball valve shut offs are installed at the supply and
return of each zone in order to
have
the ability to isolate individual zones. If there was
ever a problem with any zone
of heat,
(freeze up, leak, etc...), that entire zone would be
able to be shut off, isolated
and even
drained for service without affecting or needing to shut
down the other
zones. You would
still have heat in all the other parts of your house
despite any
problem with an individual
zone.
Each zone of heat has its own individual circulator
pump. Each pump would be
isolated
with ball valve shut offs installed above and
below it for easy future service. If
one of
the pumps should fail in the middle of winter,
this method turns what should be a
3 hour emergency service call ($$$) into a 10 min
service call ($). All other zones in
the
house would continue running without being affected by
the down one. This means
continuous heat in all other areas of the building
despite an individual pump problem.
